For more than 10 years igr has supported three sponsored children on their way to a self-determined and dignified life.  The sponsorship facilitates the child’s schooling and career’s training, and ensures his/her nutritional and medical needs are met.  This allows the sponsored child to have a self-determined and financially independent life. More generally, through its sponsorship scheme, igr is combating child labour and child poverty.

  • Rughad is our youngest sponsored child. She is 3 years old and comes from Sudan.
  • Lameck comes from Malawi, which lies east of Zambia. He is 7 years old.
  • Nghaly is almost 18 and comes from Senegal.

igr’s apprentices assume responsibility for the sponsored children.  They have the task of staying in written contact with the child and, for example, sending small presents on birthdays or at Christmas.  Each apprenticeship year takes on a sponsored child.  There is a lively exchange of letters.  The sponsored children describe their lives and what has changed for them through the support they receive.  For igr’s apprentices it is “a wonderful feeling to see the development and gratitude of our sponsored children.  We are proud to be able to help someone in this way.”
