On 1st July 2016, igr celebrated its 30th birthday.

The day was organised in cooperation with the senior management team.

It started at 10.30 a.m. with a brunch at the Kastanienhof in Dannenfels. The weather was fantastic, and there was much to discuss, especially as several colleagues from the branch offices had not been to Rockenhausen for a while.  The directors also recounted amusing anecdotes from the past 30 years. Having enjoyed the meal, including a glass or two of sekt or beer, we embarked on some physical exercise.

Our colleague, Frau Seiffert, shared her knowledge of the Donnersberg’s history with us. She described how the Donnersberg was formed, showed us the Celtic ramparts and explained how they were constructed (ca 150 BC), and showed us some artefacts from that period. Although many members of staff live in the area, few knew much about the history of the Donnersberg. Everybody was impressed when Frau Seiffert explained, with the help of a map, that at one time a volcano raised the height of the mountain to 1500 m (its current height is 687 m), and that at another time the Donnersberg was an island surrounded by water.

At the Adlerbogen monument, we learnt about the history of the Donnersberg in modern times, before walking back to Dannenfels.

With our newly gained knowledge and tired legs, we continued on to Stetten by bus. At the Boudier & Köller vineyard, our taste buds were called upon. At a wine tasting, we learnt some interesting facts about the wine-growing district and were able to sample some of its wines. At a more than 30 m long table laid with white decor, we were treated to a delicious meal. The accompanying wines were also a delight. In spite of the wide choice, a group in the middle of the table showed a strong preference for the secco.

Sadly, we had to leave at 9 pm, as our bus driver had to comply with maximum driving hour regulations. The singing during the return journey could have fooled you into thinking that we were on our way to Barcelona, not Rockenhausen.  Everyone agreed that the day was all in all a great success - worthy of a 30th anniversary. Many thanks to all those who organised it.

The motto, "30 years igr = first-class service, long-serving employees, happy customers" will continue to guide us through the next 30 years.
